West Norfolk Junior Badminton, sponsored by Roythorne’s Garage of North Wootton, held their end of season presentation at KES School, Lynn.
The children enjoyed a fun training session with lots of exciting team games to end the season, run by head coach Robin Cooper and assistants Jeremy Wakefield, Jacob Trend and Ben Watts.
Presentations were made, decided by coach Cooper, assistant coach Norma Bowen, and squad manager, Roger Cetti. Player of the Year was awarded to 11 year old Elianna Dockerty, based on attendance, effort, ability, willingness to learn, and for being invited to the Norfolk under 13 squad this year.
Most Improved Player was awarded to Luc Widdowson for his willingness to learn and improved ability over the season.
The committee and players thanked outgoing club captain Jacob Trend for his enthusiasm and help over the last couple of years.
His successor for next season is Ben Watts who will lead the teams in matches and support the younger players at tournaments and events. He is also on the club committee as its Junior Representative
The squad has had another successful season, with several players in the various Norfolk Junior squads, including Joe Rolfe, Sean Lott, Ben Watts, Jessica Alder, Jessica Bateman, Jack Watts, Alfie Brown, Luc Widdowson, Elianna Dockerty, Charlie and Harry Wakefield.
Another home match against friends and regular opponents from the Lincoln development squad is planned for this weekend.
The recent West Norfolk Junior Championships had record entries in several age groups.
The squads will resume training after a summer break in September.
