A fundraising midsummer jazz evening was held at St Edmund’s Church in Hunstanton on Saturday when the Empty Trio treated the audience to a selection of easy listening and jazz numbers.

An accomplished musician himself, the vicar of the parish Father John Bloomfield praised the quality of the performance from Mike Tandy, Bryan Marriott and Mike Smith.

He thanked the trio for a fabulous evening’s entertainment and said: “The church has been here for over 100 years and as custodians of the building we need to raise money for repairs to ensure it is here for the community in the future, and a small amount of money raised now will save a great deal having to be raised later.”

Profits made a start on the immediate target of £5,000, with the next event planned for early August.
