Persistent rain failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the organisers of the Family Fun Day held at Creake Abbey today.
“We were determined to carry on despite the weather,” said cafe manager, Lucy Bent.
Although numbers attending were sharply down, those who braved the weather largely enjoyed themselves.
“Some children even enjoyed the rides in waterproofs, despite the rain,” said Ms Bent.
But indoors things were calmer. In the middle of the day children had their faces painted in between enjoying lunch in the restaurant whilst parents listened to a repertoire of popular classics by local duo, Ed and Laura, pictured above.
Following that, in the afternoon, ceilidh band, Compass Moon , entertained visitors in The Barn.
“We had entertainment for all ages.” said Ms Bent.
“The shops were open, there was music, good food and children’s activities. It went better than we hoped.”
