Lynn: Plans to sell part of a car park

A COUNCIL is hopeful it can sell a section of a car park for development.

West Norfolk Council wants to sell off a section of the Baker Lane car park in Lynn town centre.

Signs have been advertising the site for a number of weeks.

It is hoped that the site could be developed into a mixture of flats and shops.

A spokeswoman for the council said it is hopeful the site can be sold.

She said: “The site has great potential and if developed as proposed could enhance the overall street scene in this historic part of King’s Lynn.

“At present the market is slow and we do not yet have firm expressions of interest, however we are hopeful that the benefits of the site will appeal to developers when the market picks up.”

Baker Lane has a total of 85 car parking spaces and this plan would affect 10 to 12 bays.

These spaces look out onto the historic Queen Street.

Planning permission was granted in 2010 for three shop units and seven flats.
