Erosion worries at shrinking Hunstanton
HUNSTANTON'S getting smaller. Work in the shrinking resort has had to be carried out to move the safety fence back from the eroding cliff edge.
A cliff-top survey revealed that in some areas the fence needed to be moved to maintain the recommended safety margin.
Around 350 metres of fencing has been moved, with a stronger fence being installed to replace old, damaged or vandalised sections.
News of the new fence came to light after a series of strange bristles were found growing out of the clifftop by Lynn News reader Ken Brown early in the New Year.
West Norfolk Council later revealed the bristles were "turf carrots", plugged into the ground to mark the new line instead of paint, which often washes off.
