Excitement is building for this weekend’s Downham Games which promises to be one of the biggest yet.

Families will be flocking to the Memorial Field on Sunday for a fun packed day.

Cycling, athletics and nerf guns are some of the attractions on offer from 10.30am.

Organiser Frances Rayner is delighted with the interest shown in this year’s event.

She said: “We are excited as the whole day is looking good as we have a sunny day.

“I am getting phone calls and emails every day from people wanting to know more.

“They are contacting us through the Facebook site and we have never had that happen before.

“The whole focus of the day is family fun and we want to see adults and children joining in and having fun.

“We want people of all ages and abilities to come along and have a go.”

A pair of football boots signed by Norwich City players Jacob and Josh Murphy will be the prize in a penalty shoot out contest. This will be raising money for a Prostate Cancer charity and the cost is 50p for six goes.

Separate athletics competitions for the over and under eights will be held.

New to this year’s event is cycling. Families will be able to have a go on the range of bikes in safety equipment.

Basketball, squash, cricket will be held along with Alive Leisure’s fitness classes, including zumba and yoga.

Jazzacise will be there on the day. Plus nerf guns (foam dart blasters) will also be part of the fun.

People who go along are urged to wear trainers and appropriate clothing.
