The removal of the litter bin at Fakenham’s Highfield Road car park has angered regular users.
For the past two years the town council has been responsible for the area but it has now reverted to district council control.
When the matter was raised by local resident John Cushion at this month’s Fakenham Town Council meeting, clerk Linda Jennings said: “I have already told the district council that we have removed the litter bin and that it’s now their responsibility.”
Mr Cushion asked what plans there might be for the car park in the future as many residents living on Church Lanes relied upon it for their vehicles.
The deputy mayor, David Cubitt, said they had been advised it would not be used for housing and would continue as a car park in the foreseeable future.
