The new Fakenham Info Hub and Tourist Centre will be officially opened by the mayor of Fakenham, Adrian
Vertigan, on Monday at 11am.

The Hub is located in a shop centrally situated in the market place and will
provide information for tourists and locals, including information about community groups, clubs and activities.

In addition the launch will include the new website http://fakenham.info/ and will be supported by new Facebook and Twitter social media platforms.

This will be a year-round six-days-a-week service.

Richard Crook, from Active Fakenham, which initiated the project, and has been helping to set it up said, “This is a great opportunity for the town and we hope local groups, businesses and individuals will get behind it.

“We have set this up with a lot of goodwill and very little cash; we had a grant from that town council’s Market Tolls fund for £2,500, which was a help.

Active Fakenham has worked with Sweets’n’Things and Wensum.net to make this happen.”

Lisa Mallet, owner of Sweets ’n’ Things which is in the same building and has lent the room free of charge, said: “I hope people will come along and have a look around.

“This is a free service and will be the ‘go to’ place for information about Fakenham.

“We hope to develop a comprehensive list to show that things really do happen in Fakenham and to showcase our town.”

Mr Crook added: “We will continue to work closely with the Fakenham Library and will share leaflets with them.

“Hopefully, one day, Fakenham will be added to the towns with a Tourist Information Centre.”
