A Fakenham charity group has been praised for its dedication after its fundraising efforts topped the £300,000 mark.
The total raised by the town’s British Heart Foundation support group works out at more than £11,000 a year since its formation in 1989.
Group member Lynne Davies said: “We’ve been supporting the British Heart Foundation for 27 years and we’ve had a great time running different fundraisers.
“We are delighted to have raised £300,000 since our inception in the fight for every heartbeat to fund vital research.”
The group is one of more than 200 similar organisations across the country who support the foundation’s vital research work.
Dawne Hart, the charity’s fundraising manager for Norfolk, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to our Fakenham Branch for supporting us over the past 27 years.
“Their incredible energy and enthusiasm is helping us win the fight against heart disease, and we would like to say a huge thank to them for raising this phenomenal amount.
“There are around seven million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease and thanks to the Fakenham branch we’ll be able to fund even more research into these conditions.”
