Fire officials say that a call to a reported building fire on Lynn’s Fairstead estate this afternoon was a “malicious false alarm”.

Two fire engines responded to the call at 2.12pm, during which an operator was told that the caller had seen smoke coming from near Churchill Park school on Winston Churchill Drive.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said: “The crew attempted to phone the caller back but could not.”
