Fish-A-Thon raises funds for QEH

YOUNG patients at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital have received a welcome boost thanks to the efforts of keen anglers in this year's Southery Fish-A-Thon.

The event, which is the brainchild of Southery man Steve Vigar, was held at Fendicks Lakes in May and saw five men, armed with true grit and determination, endure 48 hours of non-stop angling in a bid to catch 3,000lb of fish.

Their efforts helped raise more than 5,000 which has covered the cost of two PlayStation 3 computer game machines, eight portable DVD players, six PlayStation portables, two radios, a fish tank, four laptop computers and two sofas for the Rudham Ward.

A charity auction, karaoke challenge and pub quiz were also organised as part of the Fish-A-Thon fundraising effort.
