A former leader of Breckland district council has said he wants the job back, three years after he stood down.
William Nunn announced his wish to return to the position in a social media post this week.
The move came with just a few days left before councillors choose a successor to the authority’s current leader, Michael Wassell.
In a Twitter message on Tuesday, he said: “I am very happy to announce that I am standing for Leader of Breckland Council following @CllrMWassell resignation.”
Mr Wassell announced his intention to stand down earlier this month, citing “personal and private reasons.” He has said he will continue to serve as a councillor for the Watton ward.
Mr Nunn, who previously led the council between 2005 and 2013, is the only councillor to have publicly stated their intention to seek the role.
The new leader will be formally chosen at the council’s meeting next Thursday, March 31.
