A Zumba instructor from Downham has raised hundreds for charity through a dance party.

Russ Welch, along with five other instructors, hosted the Christmas Zumba party on December 21 which raised £358 for the Foodbank in Downham.

Mr Welch said: “It was very successful. There were six instructors and 57 Zumba buddies. A big thank you to all the fabulous instructors and Zumba buddies for your great support and raising money for charity.”

The Zumba instructor was joined by Dominique Houghton, Sarah Broadway, Yonuca Irinuca, Lucia Alba and Afton Karina Ward.

Mr Welch said his instinct to aid others was the reason he decided to organise the event.

He said: “I always want to help people, I’ve always felt passionate about people.

“I am a support worker so I help people with learning disabilities living independently – I love both my jobs.”

Mr Welch holds Zumba classes on Mondays from 7pm till 8pm at Greyfriars Primary School in Lynn from March; Wednesdays from 11am till 12pm at Runcton Holme Village Hall until the end of the month; on Wednesdays from 11am till 12pm at Stowbridge Village Hall from March; on Wednesdays from 7pm till 8pm at the Sovereign Centre, Downham.
