Pupils from Downham Academy and members of the Women’s Institute and Fen Line Users’ Association joined mayor Marion Ross and Great Northern staff to help neaten up the station.

Downham station manager Graeme Pratt said: “I would like to thank everyone for coming along to help with this tidy up project. All of the staff here are keen to create a bright, friendly station for people to enjoy whenever they visit.”

The volunteers celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday while planting flowers around the building.

Mayor Ross said: “Keeping our town clean is extremely important and it was great to see the children enjoying themselves while helping to make the station tidy.”
