A taste of southern India was brought to Lynn during a fundraising banquet over the weekend.

Members of the Bharati King’s Lynn Indian Association organised the meal in a bid to raise money to send to the victims of the Chennai flooding last year.

Up to 100 people went along to the event which was held in the Masonic Centre on Sunday and organised by Dr Sharmila Nair.

Among the delicious food on the menu was dosa, which is similar to pancake and filled with potato and cheese, along with idle and sambar.

Visitors also enjoyed Indian desserts and Masala tea.

Members of the association were delighted to have raised around £825 for the flooding victims.

Association member Nisha Ahmed said: “We had a really good response and I would like to thank the members for their support.”

Dr Prabir Mitre is the association president.
