A man from Fairstead has completed a sponsored 80-mile walk and climb up Ben Nevis to raise money for a severely disabled man.

Steve Dent and other members of the Gaywood Conservative Club decided, after reading about 18-year-old Richard Truksina, from Dersingham, to dedicate the climb to Richard.

Steve said: “It’s such a worthy cause and he really deserves a holiday.”

The mountain climb raised £425 for Richard, which was presented to his stepfather Sean Moxey at the club, to go towards a holiday.

Richard was born at 26 weeks with cerebral palsy and is 90 per cent paralysed.

It is hoped that with this money and other fundraising efforts that Richard will be able to go on his first-ever holiday.
