A Lynn volunteer went the extra mile by completing the Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) to raise vital funds for the True’s Yard museum.

Museum volunteer Laura Anderson, 23, raised £270 in sponsorship from the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society, where she works as a customer adviser, by completing the 10 kilometre race last month.

Laura, who studied history at Anglia Ruskin University, graduating last year, decided to enter the run after she could no longer devote as much time working at the museum as she once did.

Lynn branch manager Michelle Eaglen, who joined Laura to present the cheque, said: “We love to do what we can to support local causes like the Fisherfolk Museum.”

Museum trustee and town historian Dr Paul Richards, who accepted the cheque, said: “Laura is a wonderful young woman, and has been a keen volunteer for many years supporting the museum.

“The donation will help us in a variety of ways, helping us put on exhibitions, events and our ever popular lectures.”
