It is International Compost Awareness Week and West Norfolk Council is offering advice via its website and signposting residents to the Get Composting website, where there are some great offers for home composting bins.

Local residents can now buy one bin and get another half-price – all for under £30.

Nathan Johnson, public open space manager for the council, said: “We welcome home composting as a natural, old-fashioned way for residents to recycle organic domestic and garden waste to get a ready supply of low-cost compost for gardens and houseplants.

“It’s a positive, effective, and direct way for householders to get the most out of reusing the nutrients that make plants grow, and reducing the need to buy commercial compost.”

The Get Composting website also has advice on how to site and use a composting bin, and Norfolk County Council has a team of volunteer Master Composters to offer training (email mastercomposters@norfolk.gov.uk or call 0344 800 8020).
