HISTORIC photographs of Lynn Mart have been compiled in an Internet "gallery" by the National Fairground Archive at Sheffield University.
Accompanying the photographs is a short history of the Mart, recognising its original significance as the first fair of the travelling season and the traditional excitement and celebration which marked its arrival.
Reference is also made to the Lynn-based fairground ride manufacturers, Savages. The archive notes: "This was the era of excessive curved and ornate decoration, a time when the fair offered a fleeting experience of things that were totally new."
