Denver is to celebrate 50 years since the opening of its village hall.

Over the next three weeks, various events are being held in the hall for people of all ages.

The celebrations start on Saturday, April 26, with a buffet dance in the hall music by Blueprint, a top 50s, 60s and 70s band from Essex. That has already sold out.

On Sunday, April 27, between 2 and 5pm, there is a free open afternoon with teas, cutting the celebration cake, live music to dance or listen to, and the unveiling of the new hall sign.

On May 3, a day for the village’s young people will be held with a music workshop, led by Zimbabwean singer and dancer, Anna Mudeka and followed by a concert with Anna’s band. Tickets are available from John Redcar on 01366 384839.

And, on May 10, there is a 60’s charity night for EACH with the Strollers. Tickets, priced £7, are available from Reg Rose on 01366 382593
