An ex-marine was more than twice over the alcohol limit after a crash.

Steven Scoles, 52, of Windmill Hill, Great Bircham, was fined £200 and banned from driving for 20 months after admitting drink-driving in court in Lynn today.

The crash happened on Docking Road, Great Bircham on November 6.

Tests showed he had 88 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Solicitor George Sorrell said Scoles had lost control of the car after it struck a verge while avoiding an oncoming vehicle.

He said Scoles was a former marine who had worked as a self-employed handyman prior to the incident.
