A sex shop could be opening its doors in Setch under new plans.

Victoria Seed has applied to West Norfolk Council for a licence to start up a sex shop at The Annex, Riverside Farm, Garage Lane.

The Annex has been running as a sex club for some years.

With its three “playrooms” and “modern dungeon”, it caters for swingers and those with fetish tastes and has an eye-opening website advertising what it has on offer on a regular basis to both couples and singles.

West Norfolk Council granted a change of use application for social meeting place for non-religious purposes in December last year.

The Lynn News has tried to contact Ms Seed but has not received a response.

Garage Lane has industrial units and some homes.

Setch, a village of just a few hundred people, falls under West Winch Parish Council and the chairman Paul Foster said he was surprised by the application.

He said: “ I would not have thought a sex shop is not appropriate in a hamlet like Setch.

“Hardwick Industrial Estate is full of empty units which would be a more appropriate place than a residential area.

“I am surprised that a sex shop would be appropriate in Setch.”

There are at least two sex shops running in Lynn, including the Adult Warehouse, in the Hardwick Narrows, and the Private Shop in Norfolk Street.

Sex shops, cinemas and sexual entertainment venues are required to have a licence by West Norfolk Council.

Anyone operating without a licence or allows a minor into the venue could face fines of between £1,000 and £20,000.

The Setch application is the only new application currently received by the council.

Officers have issued a public notice in Tuesday’s Lynn News.

The council will accept
written objections, which include reasons, until Tuesday, June 30.
