A Giant Jumble Rumble sale is being organised to raise funds for the Mayor’s Charity appeal.

New borough mayor David Whitby, who took up the role last week, is supporting the Lavender Hill Mob theatre company during his year in the civic office.

And proceeds from the event on June 4 will be shared between the company and West Norfolk Mind.

The sale at 16 Broad Street, in the Vancouver Quarter, is being organised by borough councillor Sue Fraser.

And she is urging residents to have a clearout of unwanted items to help the effort.

She said: “I never thought I would be pleased to become known as the black bin bag lady of West Norfolk, but right now it’s a case of the more black bin bags the merrier.”

Donations can be taken to 16 Broad Street this Thursday, between noon and 3.30pm and next Tuesday, May 24, between 10am and 1pm.
