As children and staff at schools across West Norfolk finished their last day ahead of this week’s half-term holiday, youngsters at one school were backing their classmate’s fundraising campaign.

Seven-year-old Danny Bailey, pictured above with some of his classmates, organised a dress down day at Heacham Infant School on Friday to raise funds for Nelson’s Journey.

The charity, which supports bereaved children and young people across Norfolk, has been helping him and his family since the sudden death of Danny’s father, Mark, in 2014, aged 39.

And pupils’ willingness to leave their uniforms at home for the day raised a total of £150 for the cause.

Danny is aiming to boost that total even further by holding a quiz evening for relatives and friends.

Danny’s mum, Nicky, is also organising a coffee morning in aid of the charity, which will be held on April 1.

An online fundraising page has also been set up. Donations can also be made by visiting www.virginmoneygiving.com/NicolaBailey75.
