A West Norfolk pensioner has been given a suspended jail sentence after he admitted allegations of making and possessing indecent images of children.

Thomas Healey, 70, of Lodge End, Heacham, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to the charges against him.

He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, on the image making counts, with a further six month sentence, also suspended for two years, imposed to run concurrently for possession.

In addition to the prison terms, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.

The offences were all committed on or before April 4 last year and came to light following a police raid on Healey’s home.

The court heard that Healey had saved thousands of indecent images on computer equipment seized during the raid.
