A son who staged a fund-raising event in memory of his late mother has handed over more than £5,000 to the treatment centre which cared for her.
James Garner, the owner of Godwick Great Barn near Fakenham, hosted a Ballroom at the Barn evening in May to raise funds for the chemotherapy room of the Macmillan Centre at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The event, which was held in memory of his mother, Sara, who died from breast cancer earlier this year. raised a total of £5,105 for the cause. Mr Garner handed over the cheque on Friday.
And he is planning a ball to be held next May in memory of his sister Sally Grove, who also died from the disease in July, to support breast cancer care at the hospital.
He said: “They say that cancer touches all our lives and the Macmillan Centre has given my family great support over the years. We hope our effort will help the centre with its refurbishment and provision of care for cancer patients.”
