Two special fundraising awards have been launched by Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House which this year marks its 30th anniversary and is also set to move from its Snettisham base to a new £3.4 million purpose-built facility at Hillington.
A 30th Anniversary Community Fundraising Award, which will take the form of a commemorative medal, will be given to all individual supporters or community organisations whose fundraising events raise £300 or more during 2014.
And a 30th Anniversary Corporate Fundraising Award will recognise businesses which raise £3,000 or more this year for the hospice. Qualifying businesses will be invited to an awards ceremony in January 2015 and will be visited by a member of the hospice team who will present a plaque.
Hospice chief executive Richard Shaw said: “Although the majority of the initial costs for the new facility are in place, the running costs at the outset will be £2.7 million per annum, only 12 per cent of which comes from the NHS. We shall therefore remain highly dependent upon our community and individual supporters for income, and I believe the 30th Anniversary Community Fundraising Award will recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution that these supporters make to this charity.
“I start the New Year with high hopes that corporate business support could make a difference in 2014. Research has shown that there are strong links between Corporate Social Responsibility and employee motivation, and I hope that Norfolk’s business community will really get behind our fundraising programme in this our 30th anniversary year.
“We have wide experience of working with the corporate business community as a company’s chosen charity partner, and we are hoping that some of the businesses which decide to participate in our fundraising award scheme will have their own anniversaries to celebrate in 2014; this could make for some really innovative promotional opportunities.”
Anniversary fundraising packs can be downloaded from www.norfolkhospice.org.uk or they can be requested from the hospice fundraising team on 01485 542891.
