KING’S LYNN: Future looks rosy for heart disease

February is set to have a rosy glow as the British Heart Foundation challenge Lynn residents to turn heads, warm hearts and save lives by Rocking Up in Red.

To kick off National Heart Month in style, the charity is calling on local residents to brush down their red dresses, don scarlet socks or paint fiery fingernails to help raise vital cash to fight heart disease on February 1.

Heart disease is an urgent problem in Norfolk with over 42,200 people in the county suffering from the disease. One in three of all deaths are from cardiovascular disease and sadly heart disease kills three times more women than breast cancer. But by turning red, you can help the lifesaving charity reduce these grim statistics.

A famous fashion designer once said, “When in doubt, wear red” and that’s exactly what the British Heart Foundation wants you to do. With a suggested donation of just £2, women, men and children in Kings Lynn will make a big difference to help give heart disease the boot.

Alex Mayer, British Heart Foundation Manager for Norfolk, said: “I know we can rely on the generous hearted people of Kings Lynn to join in the British Heart Foundation’s Rock Up in Red day. Your support will help us raise vital cash to fund life saving equipment, ground breaking research and patient care and help keep more hearts beating in Norfolk.”
