King’s Lynn meeting to discuss hospital closure clause

Have your say

A threat to close Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be among issues debated at a meeting this week.

People will get the chance to hear from a variety of speakers when a public meeting, organised by Lynn and District Trades Council and the North West Norfolk Labour Party, is held at the St Augustine’s Centre in North Lynn, from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, May 15.

Emma Corlett, mental health nurse and NHS campaigner, will talk about a threat to the QEH under a new law. Clause 119 of the Care Bill, introduced in March, allows a hospital to be closed or downgraded if a neighbouring trust is struggling financially.

Chris Lindley will talk about the impact of welfare reform, and Alex Mayer, Labour Party Euro MEP candidate for the East, will explain why people must vote in the Euro elections on May 22.
