Lynn: Family hold fundraising ball

FOUR sisters from Lynn are organising a fundraising ball in memory of their mother, Gillian Martin who died aged 50 after a battle with breast cancer.

The sisters, Georgina Clark, 43, Amanda Hawes, 42, Yolandé Craig, 38, and Melissa Martin, 26, will mark the 15th anniversary of their mother’s death this year.

Georgina Clark said: “We didn’t want to remember mum through graves and churches, we wanted to remember her as she was.

“She was a happy landlady of the Ship pub, formerly in Gaywood, who loved organising parties and we think this is the best way to give something back.

“We have a target of raising £10,000 for Cancer Research UK, this is an incredibly important event for us, it’s 15 years since mum was taken from us.

“I’m older now than when she first developed breast cancer and we are all aware of how vital fundraising for Cancer Research is.”

The ball will be held on October 13 at the Duke’s Head in the Tuesday Market Place.

Jimmy Rockit will be performing on the night with a disco provided by Mark Stanford, who knew Mrs Martin when she was landlady of the pub.

Tickets cost £45 but include a three-course meal and the family hope to hold a raffle and auction on the night.

If anyone would like to buy tickets for the event, they should contact Georgina Clark on 07968326008 or email Yolandé Craig at yolande.craig@yahoo.co.uk
