Residents in Hilgay will be able to have peace of mind now a defibrillator has been installed in the village.
Hilgay organisations, including the parish council and the village hall committee, have clubbed together to pay for the £1,350 life-saving machine.
The defibrillator and a specialist cabinet has now been installed on the side of the village hall.
In the event of an emergency, villagers will be given a code by East of England Ambulance service to unlock the cabinet and retrieve the machine.
Chairman of the parish council Graham Carter said the defibrillator will help to increase survival rates for heart attacks.
He said: “We don’t wish ill health on anyone, but at least the defibrillator is there to use in an emergency.
“Hopefully it will save people’s lives.”
