Organisers of the popular Hilgay Raft Race will be quakers unless more rubber ducks can be founs!
The duck race is a popular part of the Hilgay fun day which is being held on Sunday, July 5, on the River Wissey.
But one of the organisers of the event, Ali Dent, is putting out the urgent appeal.
Mr Dent said: “I need more rubber ducks for the day. It’s all in aid of charity so if they are free it would be great.”
Entries are now being taken for the raft race and there is also an exciting new addition to this year’s programme.
The cardboard canoe race has been added into this year’s programme.
Mr Dent is also putting out an appeal for tyre inner tubes for another of the races.
Plus there will be a host of fun activities on the river bank along with the popular barbecue.
This year’s event will be raising money for the Norfolk Hospice, which is based in Hillington.
The 2014 raft race raised a total of £4,000 for the Stroke Association when hundreds of people braved the wet weather to watch the rafts float down the river.
The Rotary Club of Downham is also supporting the event.
Entry and sponsor forms are available from Mr Dent by calling 01366 387686.
