Pupils got hands on with history when they stepped back in time for an Invaders Day.

Youngsters from Snettisham Primary School dressed up as invaders and settlers, including Celts, Romans, Anglo Saxons, Vikings and Normans, for the event on Monday.

Members of local group, Hands On The Past, also brought in costumes and artefacts to illustrate the different groups, including swords and shields and everyday items they used such as mill grinders and weaving materials.

Organiser Cerrie Holmes, the school’s history co-ordinator, said the event was one of many ‘curriculum days’ at the school. “The children were really excited, and it goes to show they don’t always need a term learning about a topic for it to sink in.”
