An osteopath who is keen to treat both humans and horses has joined a practice based in Lynn and Dersingham.

Samuel Lidgley, 24, has been interested in osteopathy since he was 16 and his ambition to work as an osteopath stems from a long-term interest in health, fitness and well-being.

He has joined West Norfolk Osteopaths (James Kemp and Associates) and will be working at 15 Tuesday Market Place and in Dersingham’s Jubilee Court on Mondays. At both practices he will be able to see NHS and private patients.

Samuel is a four-year master’s degree graduate from the University of Bedfordshire: British School of Osteopathy (BSO). Aged 19 he was the youngest student to be accepted on the access course offered by the BSO.

Founded in 1917, it is the oldest and largest organisation to teach osteopathy in the UK. Its patron is the Princess Royal, who awarded Samuel his degree.

Samuel is also a qualified equine and canine osteopath – having completed a ten-month diploma at the Osteopathic Centre for Animals, Oxfordshire – and has inherited his family’s deep love of horses. His great-great-grandfather, George Burton, was head coachman and groom on two of the great north Norfolk estates, Felbrigg and Gunton.

Samuel said: “I’m passionate about what I do and feel privileged in being able to make a positive contribution to people’s lives, particularly those members of the community who suffer from pain and immobility.”

Samuel has his roots in Norfolk, where he attended Wymondham College, and played rugby for the county and region. Whilst he was studying, he was team sports massage therapist to Southwark Rugby Club.

He was also selected as a sports massage therapist to the professional performance artists taking part at the London Olympics opening and closing ceremonies.
