Hunstanton poet David Wood’s new book was launched on Friday and is already a hit with children.
A chance meeting with Searle’s Sea Tours’ Captain Willie last year led to David writing a poem called Captain Willie Saves Christmas.
This was posted to the firm’s website and as David said: “The rest was natural progression really.
“Captain Willie was interested in picture books but the printing cost for full colour books would have been too expensive so I suggested that it might be an idea to marry together an original short story in rhyme and colouring book.
“Even the lettering inside the book has been formatted so the words can be coloured in, meaning every child can make their book unique. All they need is a box of crayons and a little imagination.”
David’s plan is to produce many more adventures in colouring-book form and he has plenty of ideas for new stories for children to enjoy.
Stocking the book in his High Street, Londis store, Sanjay Odedra said: “This is a book that will appeal to locals and holidaymakers, I’ve already got one for my six-year-old and I’ve made sure I have plenty in stock; it’s great value for £2.99.”
