A drop-in session, which was due to take place in Hunstanton today on council plans to reform rubbish bin collections in the borough has been cancelled.

The event was due to have been held at Tesco between 5 and 7pm today, but was called off because of “unforeseen circumstances”, a West Norfolk Council spokesman said. However, another session at the Hunstanton Town Council office will go ahead as planned today, between 10am and 12.30pm.

A further event will also be held at the Sainsbury’s store on Lynn’s Hardwick estate tomorrow, Saturday, between 10am and 12.30pm.

The drop-ins are part of a series of events held by West Norfolk to raise awareness of the borough council scheme, which is due to come into effect in April.

As previously reported, fortnightly bin collections will be introduced, with residents being given new food bins, which will be collected on a weekly basis.
