Two Hunstanton businesses were visited by North West Norfolk MP Sir Henry Bellingham on Saturday.

Established in 2001, Jack’s Gentlemen’s Barbers relocated to the Annex adjacent to the Town Hall in September of 2015.

The building, having previously housed offices and the Coastguards underwent a total refurbishment and the result is a gentlemen’s emporium in Victorian style designed by owner Jack Schmollmann.

Showing Sir Henry around the premises Jack explained that his major challenge was finding staff, both trainee
and qualified barbers, to satisfy the ever increasing demand for gentlemen’s grooming in the town.

Trying out the barber’s chair Sir Henry said: “The refurbishment at Jack’s Gentlemen’s Barbers is really impressive; before it was four fairly ordinary offices in a bad conversion that have been transformed into a fantastically equipped Barber’s shop with real atmosphere.”

Next stop for Sir Henry was across the road at You Cook that opened this spring and owners Richard Atkinson and Joanne Hull Barker were keen to show their cookware and kitchen essentials in their bright and welcoming shop, and Sir Henry left with a bag full of purchases!

The MP said: “What I really like about the two businesses that I’ve visited today is the fact that they are both
innovative, absolutely dedicated to their customers and each of them has made an
investment into Hunstanton.

“If Hunstanton is to thrive it must have quality businesses like these; they are the lifeblood of a coastal town and I sincerely hope that local people recognise the investment these two businesses have made and support them.”
