Trips to the Princess Theatre, Walpole St Peter’s Flower Festival and a fish and chip supper are being planned by Hunstanton’s Day Centre and the Dersingham-based Phobbies Group, thanks to the generosity of Hunstanton Community Choir.
Cash is collected by members each week in a charities fund and cheques for £500 each were handed over by chorister Judy Robinson to representatives of the two groups on Tuesday.
Thanking the choir Marguerite Wright said: “We are planning a trip to the Princess Theatre’s summer show and this money will not only pay for the tickets but go towards funding the transport too; it is a wonderful donation.”
Chairman of the day centre, Peter Atterbury, said: “This sort of money is a lifeline to clubs like ours, we, and Phobbies, used to get grants to help us with things like transport but cutbacks mean we are now looking for other sources of funding and this generous donation helps us arrange special outings that make all the difference to our members’ lives.”
Members of the Community Choir entertained the Phobbies group recently and on April 5 they are visiting the Day Centre, together with the choir’s own Ukulele group, for a singalong.
