Smithdon High School’s SPLAT (the PTA) donated three outdoor table tennis tables to the school at the beginning of the new academic year.
It had raised the funds at three car boots held over the spring and summer term. The original idea came from the school’s student council.
They are a fantastic edition to sporting facilities at the school and the students are enjoying being able to use them at break and lunch time as well as during PE lessons. Mollie Patterson in Year 8 recently played in the Sainsbury’s school games for the Midlands and won overall team championship. Mollie, pictured above, plays table tennis for England internationally and has given help and tips to students using the tables.
The next fundraising event is a prize bingo on Wednesday, October 21, at 6.30pm.
