Small Business Saturday aims to encourage people to spend locally and in Hunstanton North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham was out and about in the town promoting what he described as “a vital part of the local economy”.

Co-ordinated by the Chamber of Trade’s vice-chairman Mark Kacary, of the Norfolk Deli, this is the first time Hunstanton businesses have participated.

He said: “I’m pleased that many of the retailers of the town have created special offers for the day; it is a great start that we can build on next year.”

Colourful Cookshop owner Richard Atkinson reported an increase in sales on the day with customers taking advantage of his special offers and said: “I hope it is a kick-start to Christmas shopping.”

And Paint me Ceramics owner David Mason said that they had experienced increased bookings on the day.
