An inquest has opened into the death of a man who died after a kite surfing incident in Hunstanton earlier this month.

Sean Sands, 49, of Foldgate Road, Heacham, was confirmed as dead in Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital on March 7 after being airlifted from the beach.

The inquest was opened by assistant coroner David Osborne during a hearing in Norwich yesterday.

The cause of death was given as asphyxiation caused by drowning.

The inquest has now been adjourned until Monday, July 6 at Lynn County Court.
