Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital is now advertising for a new chairman.

David Dean was appointed by Monitor as the interim chairman after the hospital was placed in special measures.

Mr Dean, who is also vice-chairman of Guy’s Hospital in London, intends to move on during the summer. He says the trust has made significant progress in a short space of time.

Mr Dean said: “Monitor has agreed that the trust can now begin the recruitment process for a new chairperson, and importantly that trust governors can play a part in the selection process.

“It has been a great honour to act as chairman at the trust. It has been a privilege to work with the chief executive, Manjit Obhrai, and his team and support the wider efforts of everyone at the hospital.

“I am confident that under their continued leadership, progress in patient care will continue to be made and I want to thank everyone who has made me feel part of the QEH team.”

The trust’s advert states it is looking for someone with a proven track record at board level, with firm and fair leadership coupled with diplomatic style and sound judgement. The application closing date is May 14.
