A different kind of D-Day is being held on Thursday, June 12 – a Disability Day.

It is being organised at the Professional Development Centre in Kilham’s Way, Lynn, by the trades council-backed Fenland’s People’s Assembly.

It is a chance for both disabled and non-disabled people to have their say about the conditions being faced today and to learn about what can be done.

The speakers between 5.30 and 9pm have been chosen for their knowledge of disability rights.

Mia West (West Norfolk Disability Information Service and Citizens Advice Bureau) will be discussing access and parking. Jonathan Toye (West Norfolk Disability Information Service) will discuss benefits and appeals. Andrew Bolland (StopHate) will be talking about hate crime while Mark Harrison will sum up the overall effect of the cuts on the disabled community.

All are welcome.
