A greenkeeper has been fined for dumping a sofa and cooker in Lynn.

CCTV cameras recorded Daniel Rix, 21, and another man dumping the items in a storm-water reservoir in
Anthony Nolan Road, Lynn, on July 23.

Louise Mantell-Sayer, prosecuting for West Norfolk Council, told Lynn magistrates on Wednesday that Rix was identified and interviewed.

Rix, of Anthony Nolan Road, admitted dumping waste without an environmental permit.

Mitgating, Jakki Upton told the court that Rix was a greenkeeper at Middleton Golf Club and is also hoping to start a management course.

She also added that Rix volunteers to maintain the Castle Rising cricket pitches.

Mrs Upton said: “In terms of the offence it was a stupid error on his part.”

Magistrates fined Rix £500 and he was also ordered to make a contribution towards the council’s £1,000 costs along with a £50 victim surcharge.
