KING’S LYNN: Help at hand to meet pet costs

Have your say

Pet owners in the Lynn area are being encouraged to find out if they qualify for veterinary care which is funded by a leading animal charity.

The Mill House Veterinary Hospital, in Tennyson Avenue, Lynn is now offering the service as part of the Pet Aid programme launched by PDSA.

Owners who live in the PE30 postcode area and receive either housing or council tax benefit are eligible for support from the scheme, though it is thought that just four per cent have signed up. Nationally, around 40,000 pets have been signed up to the programme.

Dr Roderick Duff, PDSA’s principal veterinary surgeon, said: “We believe there are lots of pet owners in the area who are eligible for PDSA-funded treatment, but aren’t yet registered with the service.

“We want to remind owners that we are here to help, but that they need to register.”

Residents must registers their pets before they need treatment and Mill House practice partner Carole Clarke said: “By registering, owners can rest assured that they will be able to access charitable veterinary treatment when it is really needed.”

Registration forms are available from the surgery. More details can also be obtained from PDSA by calling free on 0800 7312502.
