Volunteers from Hospital Radio Lynn are planning an all-day broadcasting marathon next week to mark the station’s 40th anniversary.

Music and lively chat will be on the agenda next Thursday, April 17, and the team hopes to interview hospital staff about their work .

A party is being held on Saturday, April 19, for volunteers and awards will be given out for long service.

Local supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s, have donated vouchers so the party goes with a swing.

Fundraising manager, Anna Greyson said it was hoped there would be one or two more surprises to be revealed.

“This is a big landmark for us,” she said.

A plaque in honour of a long term volunteer, Egon Silbernagel, who died last year and left £6,000 to the station is to be unveiled.

The station needs money to buy equipment and it aims to continue its 40th year celebrations in June by breaking the world record broadcasting marathon which stands at 85 hours.

The station needs another 76 people to volunteer as witnesses.
