Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be continuing its drive to recruit extra nurses with three events across the area next week.

Following the success of a nurse recruitment event in Lynn in January, the hospital has organised a series of similar events in Downham, Swaffham and Wisbech.

The hospital trust was placed into special measures in November 2013 after major concerns were raised in four areas, including staffing not being at the required level.

But a sustained recruitment drive, including employing nurses from Spain, Portugal and the Philippines, means staff levels are now on target.

Next week’s recruitment events are being held between 10am and 3pm on Monday at Downham Town Hall, Tuesday at Swaffham Assembly Rooms and Friday at The Boathouse conference centre in Wisbech.

Hospital staff will be on hand to offer advice and information on a range of roles available within the trust.

Support will be given to those who want to get back into nursing after a break, as well as those with no nursing qualifications, who are looking to start a new career.

Gerry Dryden, the QEH’s director of human resources, said: “Recruitment events are a chance for potential employees to see what we are about and receive support right from the start of their journey into employment with the trust.”
