A housing association has been awarded £96,000 to transform a derelict commerical property into homes.

Freebridge Community Housing Association has received funding from the Nationwide Foundation to transform a vacant building in Lynn town centre into eight flats and maisonettes for people on low incomes.

The association, which is also hoping to receive funding from West Norfolk Council’s Townscape Heritage Initiative, is holding negotiations with the building owners and has not yet named the site.

Director of property Colin Davison said: “We are grateful to the foundation and we look forward to starting on this exciting project.”
