King’s Lynn lorry driver held over fatal crash in Cambridgeshire

A Lynn lorry driver has been arrested and bailed in connection with the death of a woman in a multi-vehicle collision in Cambridgeshire.

Det Con Sharon Garrett, who was 48 and a member of the Cambridgeshire Police economic crime unit, died from injuries sustained in a five-vehicle crash on the A141 at Wyton, near Huntingdon on Friday, June 6.

Mrs Garrett was driving a Renault Clio when the crash happened at around 4.30pm. Two other cars, a Peugeot 407 and a Hyundai i20, and two lorries were also involved in the crash.

The driver of one of the lorries, a 26-year-old man from Lynn, was initially taken to the Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon with minor injuries.

After being discharged, he was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was released on bail until August 19, pending further inquiries. The driver of the Hyundai was also treated for minor injuries.
