A special hearing will take place to determine whether a Lynn man should escape a driving ban despite admitting drink-driving.

Benas Marcinkus, 24, of Loke Road, pleaded guilty when he appeared in court today.

He had 45 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped by police in the early hours of June 5. The legal limit is 35.

But solicitor Jakki Upton said her client felt special circumstances should apply, because of the short distance driven.

The case was adjourned until July 28.
